A 30 member entourage accompanied the President of Pakistan during Haj in October 2013. It is still not clear whether it was a ‘Sarkari Haj’ or paid by the President. PA Lala has selected this ‘incident’ for his poem.

Sir, how unfortunate. On one hand people are dying of hunger and on the other public money is being looted to clear the slates and get ready for the next round. We are MUSLIMS OF THE BIGGEST ISLAMIC COUNTRY OF THE WORLD. What a joke?

I wish those for whom it is meant for could READ and UNDERSTAND the hidden message.
The unfortunate period of the Dictators has become an irritant to remember. The poem by a Soldier of such a high rank proves the injuries inflicted to the country by them.
Whoever occupies the “Palaces” in Islamabad considers govt funds as “inherited money”.
Only faces change, mentality remains the same. Very meaningful verses.

This is what in Urdu is called “Hasb-e-Hall”. What a tragedy. When they come back they get receptions from relatives and officials. Like the Hudood and Blashphemy there should be a Haj Ordinance also that should classify Hajis as “Aslee” and “Sarkari” and those performing Haj on people’s taxes should be placed in the second category. The defaulters should be prosecuted under the Haj Ordinance, like the one from Multan who sold Haj quotas.
Sir, the words in this poem are as sharp as a surgeon’s knife and as cutting as a soldier’s bayonet. Please share more poems in Rawalpindi Blog.
